 Article Types

Reviews (5,000-8,000 words)

Comprehensive, authoritative syntheses of specific topics that provide balanced coverage of current knowledge, identify key controversies, and highlight future research directions. These articles include extensive references (typically 150-250 citations) and high-quality figures.

Perspectives (3,000-4,000 words)

Forward-looking analyses of emerging trends, novel concepts, or paradigm shifts in biological sciences. These articles offer expert insights into how new findings might reshape our understanding of biological processes.

Opinion (2,000-3,000 words)

Thought-provoking commentaries on controversial issues, research priorities, or policy matters affecting biological sciences. These pieces encourage scientific debate and critical thinking.

Technical Reviews (4,000-6,000 words)

In-depth analysis of experimental methods, technological platforms, and analytical approaches. These articles provide practical guidance for researchers and evaluate the strengths and limitations of different techniques.

Minireviews (2,500-3,500 words)

Concise overviews of focused topics that provide rapid updates on fast-moving fields or introduce specialized audiences to new areas of research.

Publication Frequency

Synergy operates on an annual volume model, publishing articles online continuously upon acceptance. At the end of each calendar year, these articles are assembled into that year’s volume. Synergy RLS will commence publication starting with Volume 2026.

Article Preparation

Please see the Author Guidelines to help ensure submissions align with the journal’s requirements. Accepted manuscripts will receive professional editorial review, formatting, and typesetting prior to publication

Article Processing Charges (APC)

Synergy Publishers will waive all publication fees for accepted articles until December 31, 2026. During this period, every accepted article will be published Open Access at no costs to authors.

Open Access Policy

Synergy Publishers is committed to the principles of open access. All published articles are freely available under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license. This ensures that published research can be shared, reused, and built upon without restriction, thus, maximizing the visibility and impact of the published work. For more information, please refer to our Open Access Policy.

Peer Review

Synergy journals maintain a single-blind peer review process, where reviewers remain anonymous, but authors’ identities are disclosed. This approach ensures impartiality while safeguarding the integrity, clarity, and originality of accepted manuscript. Further details are available in our Editorial Policy and Peer Review Policy.

Editorial Process

All submissions undergo a structured editorial workflow designed to guarantee fairness, transparency, and quality. Authors are encouraged to review  the journal’s editorial process before submission to understand how manuscripts are screened, reviewed, and advanced to publication. Further details are available in our Editorial Policy.

 Plagiarism Screening

At Synergy, originality is non-negotiable. All submissions are screened using iThenticate via Crossref Similarity Check. While the software identifies potential overlaps, final evaluation is always conducted manually by the editorial team to distinguish acceptable similarity from unethical duplication. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on similarity reports before the review process proceeds.
