Editorial Board Diversity

Recruitment of Editorial Board Members
Appointments to the Editorial Board are ordinarily proposed by the Editor-in-Chief or existing members, based on scholarly merit and expertise. Each nomination is subjected to transparent evaluation to assess academic qualifications, professional integrity, and alignment with the journal’s scope and standards. Only candidates who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to editorial responsibility and ethical scholarship are invited to serve.
Editorial Board Criteria
Eligibility to join the Editorial Board requires
• Advanced academic qualifications (PhD or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• A distinguished record of peer-reviewed publications and contributions to scholarship.
• A current role within an academic, research, or professional institution of recognised standing.
• Proven commitment to ethical publishing and editorial integrity.
• Demonstrable experience in peer review and/or editorial functions.
Responsibilities of Editorial Roles
a) Editor-in-Chief
The EiC provides strategic leadership, safeguarding editorial quality and integrity. In close collaboration with associate editors and the publisher, the Editor-in-Chief ensures the highest scholarly standards are met.
Responsibilities include:
• Defining the editorial vision and policy.
• Rendering final decisions on manuscript acceptance.
• Overseeing peer review with transparency and fairness.
• Recommending appointments to the Editorial Board.
• Representing the journal within the academic community.
• Contributing editorials and leading special issues.
• Addressing ethical concerns and allegations of misconduct.
• Engaging in editorial meetings and strategic planning.
b) Associate Editors
Support the Editor-in-Chief in managing manuscripts and peer review.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervising peer review for assigned submissions.
• Ensuring compliance with quality and ethical standards.
• Recommending editorial decisions.
• Contributing to journal promotion and board development.
c) Regional Editors
Serve as ambassadors for the journal in their geographic areas.
Responsibilities include:
• Promoting submissions from their regions.
• Enhancing the journal’s global reach.
• Encouraging diverse authorship.
• Supporting thematic issues and recruiting regional experts.
d) Section Editors
Oversee specific thematic or disciplinary sections.
Responsibilities include:
• Commissioning and selecting articles.
• Coordinating thematic issues.
• Monitoring trends within their area of expertise.
• Recommending reviewers and new members.
e) Editorial Board Members
Contribute disciplinary expertise and actively support the journal’s mission.
Responsibilities include:
• Submitting or soliciting at least one manuscript annually.
• Reviewing 2–3 manuscripts per year.
• Promoting the journal and recommending reviewers.
• Advising on strategic development.
f) Guest Editors
Coordinate special issues on emerging or innovative topics.
Responsibilities include:
• Proposing thematic issues with defined scope.
• Coordinating contributions and peer review.
• Writing the introductory editorial.
• Promoting the issue within academic networks.
Editorial Board Application Process
Scholars interested in joining the Editorial Board are invited to submit a formal expression of interest. Applications are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief with due regard to qualifications, journal priorities, and recommendations from current members. Final appointment decision rest with the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the publisher.
