Vasilios Danielides was born in Khartum, Sudan in 1959. He is a graduate of the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (1984) and a PhD of the University of Ioannina (1990). He was a Resident of Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital of Ioannina, Greece (1987-1991). He spent his sabbatical as a Senior Research Associate at the University ENT Clinic of Gand-Belgium (Prof P. Van Cauwenberge – ENT Dept and Prof. Vermeersch – Head and neck Surgery Dept, 1995 and 2001) and the University ENT Clinic of Nijmegen- Holland (2000).
He was elected Lecturer of Otorhino-laryngology at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina (1991-1996), Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina (1996-2003), Associate Professor of the Democritus University of Thrace (2004-2008) and Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Thrace (2008-today). Currently he is Professor of Otorhinolaryngology and Head of the ENT Department at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis (since 2004) and President of the Panhellenic Otorhinolaryngologic Society (2011-2013). He served as a Director of the Surgical Sector of the Democritus University of Thrace (2009-2010).
His clinical expertise covers all aspects of surgery in Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery with special interest in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and diagnosis of facial nerve lesions. He has published >100 articles in national and international peer-review journals, has >480 citations, H index 12, he wrote 3 chapters in books in Greek and English, 2 monographies, is a member of the Editorial Board of 3 Greek journals (Hellenic Plastic Surgery, Hellenic Otorhinolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and Otorhinolaryngologia Head & Neck Surgery) and member of the European Rhinologic Society.
