Prof. Dr. Abe received his MD from Osaka University School of Medicine in 1986. Then in 1990, he was certified as a neurological specialist by the Japanese Board of Neurology and as a rehabilitation specialist by the Japanese Board of Rehabilitation. In 1994, he completed a PhD in neuroimaging at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine. He then served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology, at Osaka University. In 2004, he was promoted to Associate Professor Department of Neurology at Osaka University. He has served as Hospital Vice-Director Department of Rehabilitation and Department of Stroke unit in Osaka University since 2004. In 2014, he was promoted to Professor, Hyogo College of Medicine. He is a Delegate Member of the Japan Neurological Society, of the Japan Rehabilitation Society, of the Japan Society of Clinical Electrophysiology, of the Japan Society of Neuropsychology, of the Japan Society of Higher Brain Function, of the Japan Society of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also an Outstanding Member of the Movement Disorders Society, member of the Japan Society of Neuroradiology, of theAmerican Academy of Neurology, of theAmerican Society for Neuroscience, of European Neurological Society. He has also been Visiting Professor, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine since 2007.He has also been Consultant, Head Office, Medical Corporation Kyowakaisince 2018. His interests include: neurology such as clinical neurology; movement disorders; dementia; impaired executive brain function including speech and cognitive dysfunction; rehabilitation; clinical Electrophysiology,functional neuro-imaging including MRI, PET, MEG and SPECT.
