My research focus is epidemiology of various parasitic diseases of animal and human origin using conventional and molecular tools. Major area of interest is arthropods and arthropods-borne diseases of veterinary and public significance with special reference to ticks and mosquitoes. Climate change is another emerging issue and strategies like mitigation and adaptation can help in the sustainable of livestock productivity through control of climate compatible parasitic species. As incharge of One Health Laboratory of CAS-AFS, research theme also encompasses the emerging and re-emerging zoonotic parasitic infections. I am involved in the recently introduced Master’s degree in Climate Change and M.Phil degree program of Epidemiology and Public Health. Presently, the streamline themes are (a) metagenomics of ticks and mosquitoes and associated pathogens using molecular biology and biotechnology tools like ELISA, PCR and RNA interference, (b) epizootiological aspects of emerging and re-emerging arthropods and arthropod-borne diseases of veterinary and public health significance under the scenario of climate change and (c) identification of climate-resilient and parasitic/pathogen resistant livestock breeds and arthropods. Other areas of interest include critical thinking techniques, project planning and management, scientific writings and presentations. Extra-curricular activities include mentoring students for planning and execution of community based social action projects.
