George Koulaouzidis

Dr Koulaouzidis completed his cardiology specialty training in Greece and subsequently obtained a two-year fellowship in Echocardiography at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital in London, UK. He also worked as a cardiologist at the European Scanning Centre where he performed Coronary CT angiographies and CT perfusion tests. In his present post, (University Hospital of Southampton), Dr Koulaouzidis is the principal investigator of the CHIRON study, which focuses on the development of new ambulatory monitoring devices for use in patients with heart failure. At the same time in collaboration with the Engineering Department of University of Southampton he is working in the development of a novel processing technique, which is based on phase space reconstruction, to enable automated prediction of normal sinus rhythm degeneration to ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation. Furthermore, he was the leading investigator Queen Elizabeth Hospital team for the trials ASCOT, ILLUMINATE, SPARCL.
